Sales Assistant - Cookshop

Hours: 30 hours week over 5 days, includes weekends
Contract: Part-time, permanent

 

Role Overview

We're looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join our Cookshop team. As part of one of our busiest and most inspiring departments, you'll help customers discover everything they need for their kitchen, from cookware and bakeware to kitchen gadgets, small electricals and gift ideas.

You'll provide outstanding customer service, create engaging product displays and ensure the department is always well presented, helping to deliver an exceptional shopping experience for every customer.

 

Key Responsibilities

Deliver exceptional customer service, offering knowledgeable advice and product recommendations.

Build strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and helping them find the right products.

Maintain high standards of merchandising and presentation throughout the department.

Replenish stock and ensure shelves are fully stocked, tidy and accurately priced.

Process transactions accurately and efficiently through the till system.

Assist with stock deliveries, unpacking and organising products.

Support promotional events, seasonal displays and in-store campaigns.

Keep up to date with product knowledge, new ranges and current promotions.

Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment in line with company procedures.

 

About You

We're looking for someone who:

Has a genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service.

Is friendly, approachable and enjoys meeting new people.

Has an interest in cooking, baking or kitchen products (desirable but not essential).

Is confident recommending products and helping customers make informed decisions.

Is proactive, reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Has excellent communication skills.

Enjoys working in a busy retail environment and can prioritise tasks effectively.

Is flexible and willing to work weekends and additional hours during busy trading periods.

Previous retail experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Weekend Chef - 1882 Café & Bistro

Salary: Competitive
Hours: Every Saturday & Sunday, with additional shifts available to cover holidays, annual leave and busy seasonal periods.
Contract: Part-time, permanent

 

Role Overview

We're looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Weekend Chef to join the kitchen team at 1882 Café & Bistro in our busy Department Store.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys preparing fresh, high-quality food in a busy daytime kitchen. Our service focuses on breakfast and lunch only, meaning there are no evening shifts or late-night finishes.

Working alongside our kitchen team, you'll help deliver a consistently high standard of food during our busiest trading days.

 

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch dishes to a consistently high standard.

Maintain excellent food quality and presentation.

Work efficiently during busy service periods.

Follow all food safety, hygiene and HACCP procedures.

Assist with food preparation, stock rotation and ordering where required.

Keep your section clean, organised and compliant with health and safety standards.

Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team.

 

About You

Previous experience working as a chef or cook in a café, restaurant or hospitality environment.

A positive attitude with a strong work ethic.

Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.

Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Passion for producing fresh, quality food.

Food Hygiene Level 2 (preferred, but training can be provided).

 

Availability

Must be available to work every Saturday and Sunday.

Must be flexible to work additional shifts during holidays, to cover annual leave and throughout busy seasonal periods, including Christmas.

Role Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead our small but dynamic kitchen team. You’ll work closely with management to develop seasonal menus, manage kitchen operations, and ensure the highest standards of food quality and safety.

 

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a small kitchen team, including rota planning and holiday management

Shape and influence our seasonal menus, working closely with management on recipes, presentation, and new dish ideas

Maintain excellent EHO knowledge and compliance with all food safety regulations

Manage supplier relationships, inventory, and stock control efficiently

Oversee weekend and peak service, ensuring consistency and quality

Mentor and train kitchen staff to maintain high standards



About You

Proven experience as a Head Chef or Kitchen Manager in a similar environment

Strong knowledge of food hygiene and EHO regulations

Experience managing inventory, ordering, and stock control

Experience managing a small team, rotas, and holidays

Excellent organisational and communication skills

Passionate about seasonal cooking and menu innovation, with a flair for creating dishes that stand out
