Maximise online

O2 recognised its online presence wasn’t being maximised and so asked us to review its recruitment portal and devise a strategy for enhanced candidate engagement.

Our answer

O2 recruits a wide range of people — from volume recruitment for its contact centres to other areas of the business requiring bespoke information on the corporate website. Our review of the existing site — www.O2.co.uk/careers — resulted in a recommendation to condense and overhaul it, consolidating some sections and refocusing others. With volume recruitment growing, it was important to include specific content for Customer Service and Retail areas and for these to feature prominently on the home page. We also recommended some more quirky additions to the site.

Results

As well as developing the O2 online candidate experience, we’ve improved candidate quality and numbers as well. Cultural differentiators of O2 are now clearly demonstrated on the www.O2.co.uk/careers home page, including quirky ‘quick the boss is coming’ and ‘I resign’ buttons.

Three separate microsites are now linked to the main careers site. Each is designed for a particular purpose and audience; but all maintain a consistent recruitment brand for instant candidate orientation. Another constant is the short online application form that links directly to an applicant tracking system, ensuring a managed candidate experience.
