Cancer Research UK
Rewards. What rewards?
Cancer Research UK needed a Rewards and Benefits portal to provide information on their extensive range of schemes and offers, in a format staff could access easily. Previously basic information was held on the company intranet, but this was limited and not accessible to a significant proportion of their employees.
Our challenge was to create a platform to present this information ensuring consistency of brand whilst creating an engaging ‘look and feel’ to pull users into the site to investigate further. The starting point for the visual creative concept, referenced a previously produced Rewards and Benefits swatch brochure.
Our answer
The site had to be publicly available (not intranet based) and protected by usernames and passwords so that access is available to Cancer Research UK employees only. Users are set up via data import from the Cancer Research UK HR system and will use their employee numbers as a unique identifier.
The site also now better informs employees of all core benefits and 3rd party employee savings which were highlighted on relevant content pages in order to filter information. On top of that we developed a layer of content about the 3rd party offerings, how they work and the type of offers available - before users are linked through to the site. We did this to entice users to take up offers and dispel misconceptions that “there must be a catch”.
In addition, we also need to make it possible for Cancer Research UK to manage content on the site, meaning that they can edit a specific content region on each page. Finally, to ensure we presented a personal feel to each user we’ve developed a brief questionnaire/survey (approx. 8 questions) that will result in the user fitting into predefined categories that will identify which content would be most interesting to them. Based on these preferences, the user will be delivered featured content that will highlight areas of the site that may be of interest to them. These features will dynamically rotate on a calendar of content areas predefined by Cancer Research UK.
